Chivas USA Battles San Jose Earthquakes on Mexican Independence Weekend

September 13, 2012 - Major League Soccer (MLS) Club Deportivo Chivas USA

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012) - Chivas USA returns home after three consecutive road matches when it hosts Western Conference rival, the San Jose Earthquakes, Saturday Sept. 15 during Mexican Independence celebration night at The Home Depot Center for a 7:30 pm PT kickoff. The game is the third and final meeting between the clubs in the season series and is a crucial six-point match as the playoff stretch heats up. The Rojiblancos are unbeaten in the last five matches when hosting the Quakes. The game will broadcast on television, live on Fox Sports West in English at 7:30 pm PT and 9:00 pm PT (delayed) on KWHY Channel 22 in Spanish.

Chivas USA will celebrate Mexican Independence weekend before and throughout the match. Prior to kickoff ChivaTown will be alive with fan festivities, including a mariachi performance. In addition to the festivities and entertainment, Chivas USA will honor community hero and 2012 water polo Gold medalist Brenda Villa and a representative of the armed forces.

Chivas USA is the only Mexican-owned sports franchise in the U.S., and is proud to honor Mexican Independence weekend with its devoted fan base.
