Reno Aces News Release

RENO, Nev.-Ryan Budde hit two of Reno's five home runs, and Trevor Bauer delivered another quality start Tuesday night, as the Aces jumped-out to a 1-0 lead in the Pacific Coast League Championship Series with a 13-1 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers at Aces Ballpark.

Omaha hopped on the scoreboard first and took a quick 1-0 lead. But the Aces would fire back in a big way. Reno scored nine times between the second and fourth innings, erasing the deficit and building a lead that was never threatened.

With the victory, Reno takes a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series. Game 2 is set for 7:05 p.m. PT at Aces Ballpark on Wednesday in what will be the final home game of the 2012 season. The Aces now are two wins away from capturing the first league championship in franchise history.

Budde-who homered once in the regular season-hit a two-run home run in the second inning, then added a solo shot in the fourth. Mike Jacobs and Tyler Kuhn added homers in that fourth frame, as well, as the Aces cruised to the series-opening victory.

Bauer (2-0) scattered a run on three hits over 6.2 frames, becoming the first Aces pitcher and just the second in D-backs Triple-A history to win twice in a single postseason. After his exit, Mike DeMark and Bryan Henry combined to hold Omaha scoreless over the game's final 2.1 innings.

Tuesday's loss fell to Storm Chasers starter Jake Odorizzi (1-1), who surrendered nine runs-eight earned-on nine hits over 3.2 innings of work.

The Aces banged-out 15 hits on the night, including three for Brent Clevlen, two-hit efforts for Budde and Wladimir Sutil, and an eighth-inning homer for Ryan Strieby. All 11 Reno position players that appeared Tuesday night collected at least one hit.

Game 2 is set for Wednesday night at Aces Ballpark. RHP Daniel Cabrera gets the nod for Reno, while LHP Ryan Verdugo counters for the Storm Chasers. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT. Ribs will be available for just $1, and rally towels will be distributed at the gates. Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
