A five-run fifth inning opened the Ducks' lead to seven. RBI singles from Timo Perez and Ray Navarrete, a two-run base hit by Joash Brodin and a run-scoring wild pitch highlighted the frame.

Sugar Land finally got on the scoreboard in the seventh inning against Ducks starter John Brownell on a RBI single to left by Iggy Suarez. However, the Skeeters would not get any closer.
