The Miners took the final wild card spot by winning in game two of the day/night double header over the Lake Erie Crushers on Sunday night. The Miners finished the regular season at 55-39.
The Miners and Beach Bums split their season series 3-3 with each team taking two of three games at the other team's home field. The Miners recently took two out of three from the Beach Bums at Wuerfel Park from August 3rd to the 5th. It was also during that series that Miners manager Mike Pinto achieved his 400th career win as an independent league manager in game two on August 4th.
The other Division series will feature the Gateway Grizzlies and the Florence Freedom. The Grizzlies host the Freedom tomorrow night at GCS Ballpark at 6:35 pm. The two Division Series winners will face off in the Frontier League Championship Series beginning on September 12th.
Playoff tickets are currently on sale for Games three and four at Rent One Park. Game three will get underway at 7:05 pm. If there is a game four, the Miners and Beach Bums will play at 7:05 pm.
