Hershiser, Brown Added to Loons Roster

MIDLAND, MI - Right-handed pitcher Jordan Hershiser, the son of legendary Dodgers pitcher Orel Hershiser, has been added to the Loons active roster. Geoff Brown, a left-hander and the all-time leader in appearances at the University of Washington, also has joined the club.Left-handed pitcher Greg Wilborn and righty Arismendy Ozoria have been placed on the disabled list.
Hershiser was drafted this year by the Dodgers in the 34th round (1,046th overall) following a playing career at the University of Southern California. This year with the Arizona League Dodgers, Hershiser went 2-1 with a 2.55 ERA in 15 relief appearances. In 17 2/3 innings, the 6-8, 245-pound righty walked seven and struck out 20. Hershiser's father won the Cy Young Award during the Dodgers' 1988 World Championship season and was named to three all-star teams.
Brown, the career leader in appearances in University of Washington history, is the third player to join the Loons this season after playing for the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League. Brown went 1-3 with a 3.67 ERA in 44 appearances this season. He struck out 46 in 41 2/3 innings. Brown made 94 appearances in four seasons (2008-11) with the Huskies, accumulating an 8-19 record with a 5.53 ERA. The Mill Creek, WA native was initially drafted by Kansas City in the 23rd round of the 2007 draft.
