Lookouts Sweep Suns with 3-2 Win

August 18, 2012 - Southern League (SL) Chattanooga Lookouts

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Luis Nunez hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning to lead the Lookouts to a 3-2 win over the Jacksonville Suns in Saturday night action at AT&T Field.

The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning, when the Suns broke the ice with two runs. Wes Roemer (4-2), who came in relief of starting pitcher Andres Santiago, proceeded to walk Zack Cox and load the bases on consecutive singles from Ben Lasater and Kyle Jensen. Roemer then walked Jake Jeffries to account for the first run, and Daniel Pertusati grounded out into a run-resulting double play to put the score at 2-0.

Chattanooga countered in the seventh with three runs. Blake Smith led off with a solid single to left, and Nunez blasted a home run off of starter Jose Alvarez (5-8) to tie-up the score. C.J. Retherford then ripped a triple to center to continue the rally. After a Bobby Coyle ground out, Joe Becker singled to drive home Retherford.

Jacksonville loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth, but Paco Rodriguez was able to strike out two batters and induce a game-ending ground out to preserve the 3-2 win. Rodriguez picked up his second save as a Lookout in the process.

Tomorrow, the Chattanooga Lookouts will hit the road to play a five-game series against the Tennessee Smokies. The Lookouts will be back in town on Friday, August 24th to play a five-game homestand against the Jackson Generals. Tickets for these games or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
