Great Lakes Loons News Release

The Michigan Baseball Foundation (MBF) has partnered with the Maria Mencia Cancer Caregiver Network to host the first ever Loons Rock the Clock Charity Baseball Event, presented by Farm Bureau Insurance, and the general public is encouraged to attend.

The event will feature 16 teams playing eight baseball games at Dow Diamond over a 16-hour period beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 18. Proceeds from the event will benefit both the Maria Mencia Cancer Caregiver Network and MBF.

Dow Diamond will be open to the public throughout the event, and spectators are encouraged to bring a donation of their choosing as an entry fee.

For information about the event and how to support the cause, contact Patti Tuma at (989) 837-6165 or ptuma@loons.com or contact Jim Kostrava at (989) 839-2342 or Jkostrava@cancercaregiversupport.org.

The Maria Mencia Cancer Caregiver Support Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing information, services, and support to caregivers of persons living with cancer in the mid-Michigan region. As a division of Cancer Services, a local United Way agency, it is located on the campus of MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland. We employ a full-time licensed professional Social Worker to coordinate a team of volunteer mentors and develop programs to help people caring for their loved one with cancer.

The Michigan Baseball Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and public charity, which was formed in 2006 to generate regional economic development through creative partnerships and grants and to enhance the efforts of regional organizations that serve young people. The Michigan Baseball Foundation owns and operates Dow Diamond, home of the Great Lakes Loons, the sixth-year Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
