Bluefish Fall in 14

August 11, 2012 - Atlantic League (AtL) Bridgeport Bluefish

(Bridgeport, Conn.) - A six-run fourteenth inning by Camden cost the Bridgeport Bluefish (14-13, 45-52) a game on Saturday as the team was defeated by the Camden Riversharks (14-15, 47-50) by a score of 13-8 at The Ballpark Harbor Yard. The Bluefish are 6-6 against the Riversharks this season.

An RBI single by Danny Santiesteban untied the game at eight. The outfielder scored twice and drove in two. Brian Burgamy increased the lead with a grand slam to right. Jake Eigsti doubled the final run of the night to the plate. The shortstop and Raul Padron had four hits

Bridgeport's Prentice Redman picked up his second homer in three games as the outfielder served a solo drive with two outs in the first. The outfielder reached base six times on Saturday and finished one triple short of the cycle and had four hits. Eddie Rogers drove in two runs in the third frame on a single to rightcenter. The Bridgeport shortstop finished with two hits on the night and brought in three. Luis Figueroa came home twice and drove in the tying run in the seventh on a sacrificle fly to leftcenter. James Simmons got on base four times while Kennard Jones picked up three hits and reached base four times and one walk.

Bluefish starter, Dan Serafini, did not factor in the decision as he worked six innings of five run (three earned run), nine hit, three walk, and seven strikeout baseball. Six relievers combined to throw the rest of the game and surrendered nine runs on fourteen hits and five walks while fanning ten. Jonah Bayliss (2-7) suffered the loss for the home team.

Camden hurler, Kevin Reese, did not factor in the decision as the starter worked five innings of three run, five hit, three walk, and four strikeout baseball. Six Riversharks relievers pitched the rest of the way with James Houser (3-1) picking up the victory. The combination of relievers totaled nine frames and allowed five runs on nine hits and seven walks while striking out two.

The Bluefish finish a three game series against the Camden Riversharks on Sunday from The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 and the gates open one hour before first pitch. There is an autograph session and Chet Kids Run the Bases. Bridgeport will send righthanded starter, Raymar Diaz (3-9, 6.34 ERA) against Camden righthanded starter Bryan Corey (7-7, 5.92 ERA).
