Phoenix Mercury Signs Dymond Simon to Seven-Day Contract

August 9, 2012 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) Phoenix Mercury

PHOENIX - The Phoenix Mercury has signed local product Dymond Simon to a seven-day contract, the club announced today. Simon will fill one of the roster exemptions granted due to the long-term injuries to Candice Dupree and Charde Houston.

A 2011 graduate of Arizona State University, Simon played high school basketball at St. Mary's in Phoenix and is making her second stint with the hometown WNBA squad. She was invited to the Mercury's 2012 training camp but then waived prior to the start of the regular season.

The seven days on Simon's contract will begin when the WNBA season resumes on Aug. 16 when the Mercury travels to Seattle to take on the Storm. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. Pacific Time. The club returns to US Airways Center on Sunday, August 19 when it hosts the San Antonio Silver Stars in an afternoon tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
