Black Hawks Send off Set

Waterloo, Iowa-Before the Waterloo Black Hawks travel to Russia, fans and well-wishers will have the opportunity to meet the entire team on Friday, during that evening's "Live to 9" concert in Cedar Falls.Members of the hockey club will be on hand before departing for the 2012 Junior Club World Cup in the Siberian city of Omsk later in the weekend. The Live to 9 music series features free Friday performances at Sturgis Park, located behind the Ice House Museum, on the Cedar River. This week's featured band is Wild Card.
"The players are getting prepared for the trip and the games. Friday will give them a chance to have some fun and to meet everyone rallying behind them," said Black Hawks President Doug Miller.
Sturgis Park is located near the intersection of First and Center Streets in Cedar Falls. Gates open at 5:30 with Wild Card beginning their performance at 6PM. Friday's concert is sponsored by Toad's Bar and Grill. Food and beverages will be available during the concert. Fans are encouraged to bring folding chairs.
The Black Hawks are the first United States Hockey League team to participate in the Junior Club World Cup, which is being held for the second time. Squads from nine other nations will represent their countries during the event. Waterloo's first game is on August 19th versus HC Energie Junior from Czech Republic.
