Bandits Acquire Bryan and Rooney from TorontoAugust 3, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) Buffalo Bandits
"We are very excited to add both Glen and Jamie," Dietrich said. "We thought that getting a chance to add two players that have a strong chance to play in our opening night lineup for a second-round pick was too much to pass up."
Bryan (5'9", 180 lbs., 2/13/89) joins the Bandits after spending his first two NLL seasons with Toronto. In 18 games with the Rock, Bryan tallied nine points (2+7) and 89 loose balls while totaling only nine penalty minutes. In five playoff games as a member of the Rock, he has added one goal and 23 loose balls.
"Glen is a terrific young defender who has been a winner at all levels," Dietrich said. "He was captain of a Minto Cup-winning team in Orangeville and was part of Toronto's Champion's Cup team of 2011."
A five-year NLL veteran, Rooney (5'10", 185 lbs. 7/31/84) has recorded 124 points (65+59) and 219 loose balls in 66 regular season games, adding 12 points (8+4) in four playoff contests.
"Jamie is a fearless offensive player who is very unselfish and has a great touch around the net," said Dietrich, who coached Rooney in Toronto last season as he recorded 14 points (8+6) and 34 loose balls in 10 games for the Rock.
A 2004 Buffalo draft pick, the Arthur, Ontaro native never dressed for the Bandits, but has seen time with Philadelphia, New York, Rochester, Boston and Toronto in his career.
The Bandits had previously received the 14th overall pick in a trade from the Minnesota Swarm. Buffalo retains the fifth overall pick and three second-round selections, giving them four of the first 18 picks in the draft, which Dietrich noted that the team plans to use.
