LA Galaxy Forward Robbie Keane Voted MLS Player of the Month for July

August 2, 2012 - Major League Soccer (MLS)

NEW YORK (Thursday, August 2, 2012) LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane was voted Major League Soccer (MLS) Player of the Month by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for July of the 2012 MLS season.

Through six MLS matches in July, Keane netted five goals-including back-to-back braces on July 8 and July 14-and added four assists to lead the Galaxy to a 4-1-1 record, the club's best month of the 2012 campaign. Keane combined with fellow LA Designated Players David Beckham and Landon Donovan to tally 11 goals and 11 assists for the team in July.

With nine total strikes on the season, Keane is currently tied for sixth place in the race for the Budweiser Golden Boot.

This award is Keane's first MLS Player of the Month accolade and the first for a Galaxy player this season.

The MLS Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/.
