August 2, 2012 - USL PRO (USL PRO) Charleston Battery
Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery squares off with the Wilmington Hammerheads twice this weekend. On Friday night the Battery will play the Hammerheads at Blackbaud Stadium with kick off set for 7:30 PM; then on Saturday both teams will head to Wilmington, NC for the second match and final game of the three-game season series. It's the final Family Night of the season on Friday at Blackbaud Stadium presented by NBSC with family packs available that include 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs and 4 sodas all for only $30.
Both games will be broadcast live on 1340 AM presented by Daniel Island Wine and Spirits.
The Charleston Battery defeated the Wilmington Hammerheads 3-1 in the first match of the three game series played on July 14 at Blackbaud Stadium. Navion Boyd, Dane Kelly and Nicki Paterson all tallied to lead the Battery past Wilmington.
The Battery will be looking to halt a two game losing streak on Friday night. After defeating Wilmington on July 14 the Battery lost consecutive matches versus Orlando City.
Orlando 's 4-0 win versus the Battery last Friday night in Orlando clinched the regular season title for the Lions. The top six teams advance to the post-season; Charleston enters the weekend in third position three points ahead of Wilmington who occupy the fourth spot.
The Battery still have an opportunity to finish in second position which would allow Charleston a bye into the semifinal round and guarantee a home game in the playoffs.
Tickets for Fridays game are on sale now starting at just $10, to purchase tickets, family packs or for more information please call (843) 971-GOAL (4625) or visit www.charlestonbattery.com.
