Walleye Re-Sign Toledo Native Phil Rauch

(Toledo, OH) - Defenseman and Toledo native Phil Rauch (RAWK) returns for the 2012-13 season Toledo Walleye Head Coach Nick Vitucci announced today.

"What a pleasant surprise Phil was for us last season," Head Coach Nick Vitucci said. "He is a terrific young man and a great player for us on and off the ice. He will be an important component to our hockey club going forward."

The St. Francis De Sales graduate scored his first professional goal on October 22nd against South Carolina. Rauch appeared in all 72 games this past season, finishing his first professional year with 4 goals. He finished his first campaign with 51 penalty minutes and a minus three.

"It's amazing to get to play hockey in my hometown," said Phil. "I am looking forward to another great year in downtown Toledo playing in front of our fans."

Prior to skating with the Walleye, Rauch played four seasons at Canisius College for former Toledo defenseman BJ Adams. During his time at Canisius, Phil was a four time member of the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team.

The Toledo Walleye will open the 2012-13 regular season on Saturday, October 13th at home against the Kalamazoo Wings. 2012-13 Season tickets are on sale now online at www.toledowalleye.com, or by phone at (419) 725-9255.
