Alaska Re-Signs Forward Nick Mazzolini

The Alaska Aces have re-signed fourth-year forward and local product, Nick Mazzolini for the 2012-2013 season, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Wednesday afternoon. The Anchorage native will suit up for the Aces for the third time in his professional career. The Aces begin the 2012-2013 season on the road and return home on Friday, October 19 at Sullivan Arena to host the Utah Grizzlies. Mazzolini, 27, returns to his hometown after finishing third in Aces scoring last season. The 6'2", 210 lbs. forward had 56 points (21g, 35a) in 69 games. He was a solid contributor in the playoffs as well with 7 points (3g, 4a) in 10 games. In 2009-2010 as a rookie, Mazzolini led Alaska in goals, assists, and points and was selected as a 2010 All-Star. He finished fifth in the league in rookie scoring that year. In two season with the Aces, Mazzolini has produced 120 points (48g, 72a) in 132 regular season games. His lone season spent outside of Alaska came in 2010-2011 when he played professionally in Italy. He finished second on the Bolzano HC club with 38 points (15g, 23a) in 39 games. Prior to his first stint with the Aces, he played four seasons of college hockey at Providence College where he amassed 67 points (25g, 42a) in 128 games.

The Aces 2012-2013 season begins on the road and the club will return home on Friday, October 19 at Sullivan Arena.
