Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres were unable to complete a series sweep Monday, falling to the Sacramento River Cats, 6-0. Sacramento starter Dan Straily struck out nine hitters in six shutout innings and now has a 0.96 ERA in seven Triple-A starts. Tucson pitcher Will Scott arrived from Short Season Eugene for a spot start in the place of Eric Stults and threw four innings, allowing two runs.

Sacramento scored twice in the second inning against Scott on a bases loaded single by Jermaine Mitchell. The River Cats added three more in the fifth inning when Anthony Recker picked up an RBI infield single and Wes Timmons hit a two-run double down the right field line. A sacrifice fly by Collin Cowgill in the eighth gave Sacramento its fifth run of the day. The T-Pads had three scattered hits Monday and didn't have more than one baserunner in any of their nine innings. Andy Parrino went 2-for-3 with a double and Jeremy Hermida also doubled, going 1-for-2 with a walk.

The Padres three-game winning streak came to an end with the loss. Tucson won five of the eight matchups at Raley Field this season and finished the season series against Sacramento with eight wins and eight losses.
