Best Selling Author and Movie Stars Coming to Trenton

July 21, 2012 - Eastern League (EL) Trenton Thunder

( Trenton, NJ) Hollywood is coming to Trenton once again, this time as cast members Zach Gordon (Greg) and Robert Capron (Rowley) from the new 20th Century Fox Film Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days visit Waterfront Park on Friday, July 27. The author of the "Wimpy Kid" series of books, Jeff Kinney, will also be in attendance.

Kids are encouraged to bring their copies of any of the "Wimpy Kid" books to have them signed by Jeff, Zach and Greg during their in-game autograph session. In addition Jeff, Zach and Greg will throw out ceremonial first pitches and participate in the "World's Largest Camping Read-along" during the post game Scout Sleepover in the outfield at Waterfront Park.

From its origins as a series of online cartoons, Diary of a Wimpy Kid exploded onto the pop culture scene when Jeff Kinney's first "novel in cartoons" was published in 2007. Diary of a Wimpy Kid spent almost 3 years on the New York Times children's bestseller list and there are 75 million copies in print in 37 languages.

Zach Gordon and Robert Capron return for this third film in the series as the wisecracking pre-teen Greg Heffley and his best friend Rowley Jefferson. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days is based on Jeff Kinney's third and fourth "Wimpy Kid" books, "The Last Straw" and "Dog Days".

Thanks to 20th Century Fox, "Wimpy Kid" books and gift-bags will be awarded to select lucky fans during the game.

The Thunder will face the Harrisburg Senators in a double-header beginning at 6:05pm. The teams will play a pair of seven inning games to make up a rained out game on April 22.

The first 2,000 fans ages six and older through the gates will receive an Ivan Nova Bobblehead courtesy of Hyundai.
