Rapids to Wear Black Armbands in Honor of Marisa Colaiano
July 18, 2012 - Major League Soccer (MLS) Colorado Rapids
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Wednesday, July 18, 2012) - The Colorado Rapids will wear black armbands during their matches on Wednesday, July 18 at Toronto FC and Saturday, July 21 at Real Salt Lake in honor of Marisa Colaiano, the club's Senior Manager of Community Relations, who passed away on Tuesday as a result of complications from multiple sclerosis."Our Rapids family lost a very special person this week," said Colorado Rapids President Tim Hinchey. "Marisa was the consummate professional who made every person around her better. But more importantly, her spirit of generosity and kindness made a tremendous impact on everyone she touched. We will miss our friend."
Marisa joined Kroenke Sports & Entertainment in July 2002 and had served as the Rapids' Manager of Community Relations for the past 10 years. Through her efforts and support of nonprofit and charitable organizations, Marisa positively affected the lives of countless children and families in our community.
Marisa will be remembered and missed by all her current and former colleagues, players and coaching staffs, and friends for her friendly smile, her humility, determination, loyalty, and compassion, and her strength and huge heart.
In lieu of flowers, Marisa's family requests that donations be sent to:
Mount Saint Vincent Home
4159 Lowell Boulevard
Denver, CO 80211
Mount Saint Vincent Home is one of the oldest non-profits in Colorado and has been providing programs and services for abused and neglected children since 1883. Last year, the Rapids, in partnership with MLS Works and Kroenke Sports Charities, completely refurbished the computer lab at MSVH. This is an organization that made a special impact on Marisa's heart and it is only fitting that we can remember our friend by supporting their work to help children and families in crisis.
