
Gary Mitchell placed on 7-day DL

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that OF Gary Mitchell has been placed on the 7-day disabled list, retroactive to July 9th. Mike LaCassa, Minor League Operations Manager for the LA Angels, announced the move on Thursday.
Mitchell was a member of the Kernels 2012 Opening Day Roster and is batting .264 with 11 HR and 31 RBI in 54 games for the Kernels. He is the team leader in home runs with 11 and this is his second stint on the DL this year (June 6-14).
The Angels have announced no corresponding move. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one below the MWL maximum of 25, with four players on the disabled list.
The Kernels continue a six game road trip tonight with a 6:05 pm game against the Great Lakes Loons, the Midwest League affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, July 18th and open a six game home stand with games against Fort Wayne and Lake County.
