Racers Complete Comeback, Defeat Bandits 3-2

July 5, 2012 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Chicago Bandits

ROSEMONT, Ill.--Coming off an impressive four game series sweep against the USSSA Pride, the Bandits returned home again Thursday night looking to continue their success against the Akron Racers.

However, with two runners on and no outs, Racers' first baseman Brianna Hesson ended the Bandits six-game winning streak, blasting a three-run homerun over the right field fence to give the Racers a 3-2 lead in the top half of the seventh inning. The Bandits then went out in order to end the game.

The Bandits jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Amanda Williams dropped a bloop single down the left field line to drive in Tammy Williams from third, giving the Bandits a 1-0 advantage heading into the third.

Chicago tacked on another run in the bottom of the third after Alisa Goler hit a deep double to right field, scoring Amber Patton who reached off a single and advanced to second on an error.

Lisa Norris took the mound for the Racers as the starter. She threw five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits. She was replaced in the sixth inning by Hillary Bach who picked up her second win of the year in relief.

Bandits' pitcher Nikki Nemitz was able to limit the Racers to one Nicole Pauly hit through the first five innings. Then in the top of the seventh, Brianna Hesson put Akron ahead for good with a three-run home run.

The Bandits return to action tomorrow, Friday, July 6 against the Racers at 7:35.
