BATTLE CREEK, MI - The first half champion La Crosse Loggers fell behind early, but scored the last nine runs of the game and coasted to a 9-1 victory over the Battle Creek Bombers in the series opener at C.O. Brown Stadium.

The Bombers got back-to-back doubles by Dillon Moyer and Dylan Delaney to open the second inning, but the offense was held silent the rest of the night. Delaney was the only Bomber to record two hits on the night.

James Guillen started on the mound and was terrific for La Crosse. He scattered seven hits over seven innings. The righty only struck out one, but kept the Bombers hitters off-balance all night long. Jacob Dorris came on for the final two innings and struck out four.

The brief two-game series concludes on Wednesday, July 4 at C.O. Brown Stadium, with fireworks to follow the ballgame. It is also the final game of the first half, and Brian Thene will pitch for Battle Creek. First pitch is 7:05 ET.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the prestigious Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in North America.
