Two Homers Not Enough in Series Finale with Wahoos

PENSACOLA, FLA. - The Jackson Generals blasted two homers on Saturday, but it was not enough as Pensacola won 4-2 in the series finale, taking the series. Despite dropping their second straight and losing the series, 3-2,Jackson (5-5, 47-33) takes the season series over the Blue Wahoos, 8-7. The First Half Champion Generals return to Pringles Park on Sunday to start a three-game set with Montgomery.

Chih-Hsien Chaing smacked his second home run of the season in the second inning to put Jackson on top for just a short time, 1-0. The Wahoos quickly tied the game in the bottom of the second against Taijuan Walker with a single from Ryan LaMarre that scored Stephen Hunt.

Kalian Sams drilled a solo homer that landed in Pensacola Bay beyond the left field wall in the top of the fifth inning. The long bomb by Sams put Jackson back on top, 2-1.

Pensacola struck for their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two out 2-RBI double from Beau Mills. The double gave Pensacola a 4-2 lead that they never gave up.

Taijuan Walker (4-4) took the loss on Saturday allowing three runs on six hits over 5.0 innings pitched. Walker walked three and struck out three. Pensacola starter J.C. Sulbaron (6-5) earned the victory for Pensacola allowing two runs on five hits over 6.2 innings. Relievers Jandy Sena, Mauricio Robles and Carter Capps combined to allow just one unearned run over the final 4.0 innings.

Eric Campbell paced the Generals at the plate finishing 2-for-3 with a walk.

The Generals begin a three-game series with Montgomery on Sunday night at Pringles Park, with first pitch at 6:05 p.m. RHP Taylor Stanton (2-2, 7.32) makes the start for Jackson and will be opposed by Montgomery RHP Alex Colome (3-2, 4.93).
