Biscuits Blast BayBears for Series Win

Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MOBILE, Ala. - The Biscuits (39-34, 3-2) capitalized on sloppy play from the Mobile BayBears (42-33, 2-3) to score 11 runs over the final two innings in a 15-4 trouncing Monday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Mobile committed three errors and countless other defensive lapses in the eighth and ninth as the Biscuits turned a one-run lead into a 7-3 lead in the eighth, and used a two-run double from Hak-Ju Lee and a two-run single from Ty Morrison to key an eight-run outburst in the ninth.

The Biscuits jumped on highly-touted lefty Tyler Skaggs (5-4), getting homers from Brett Nommensen and Mike Sheridan to take a 4-0 lead through three. Nick Barnese, meanwhile, in his 2012 Biscuits debut, fired four shutout innings. Merrill Kelly (4-1) then came on and hurled three innings of no-hit baseball to grab the win.

The Biscuits had 52 total plate-appearances in the game. With a 13-hit effort, the Biscuits have now collected 111 hits in their last 10 games. The 15 runs were one-short of a season-high for the Biscuits.

Ryan Garko led the charge for the Biscuits with his second-straight three-hit game. Every Biscuit in the lineup had a hit and an RBI except Mark Thomas.

The Biscuits now begin a five-game set with the Jacksonville Suns at Riverwalk beginning Tuesday at 7:05.
