U.S. Military All-Stars Top the Owls 7-1

Forest City, NC- The U.S. Military All-Stars knocked off the Owls 7-1 in an exhibition game on Friday night in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,800 at McNair Field. It was the first of two exhibition games the Owls will host this season. Justin Bryan delivered the lone run for Forest City in the bottom of the 7th inning.

The U.S. Military All-Stars jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Owls' starter Bryce Danielson. Josh Leo singled in a run in the 2nd inning to put the All-Stars on top. Then, Jared Hunt drove in two runs on a base hit in the 4th inning to make it 3-0. Jesse Jenner added another RBI single in the 6th against Ryan Welke. Five different All-Stars ended up recording at least one RBI in the contest.

In a moving pregame ceremony, Michael Osborne of Shelby, NC was presented with the flag from Ground Zero in honor of his service to the country in Afghanistan. The game was also stopped at 9:11 PM in honor of those who died on the attacks that day, with the whole crowd joining in a rendition of "God Bless the U.S.A".

The Owls get back into the thick of the Coastal Plain League schedule tomorrow in Asheboro. Forest City returns to McNair Field on Sunday for the team's only game against the Wilson Tobs this season.
