Raiders Honored by UIFLJune 20, 2012 - Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) Lakeland Raiders
The award should come as no surprise to fans who attended Raiders home games this season at the Lakeland Center. The Raiders game day staff, headed by Assistant General Manager Jim Preston, put together a sports entertainment package that included far more than just a football game. A trip to a Raiders game includes live music, scads of giveaways, contests, and the lovely Raiders Dancers. There were special guests, like musician Red Stryke or NFL star Ray Lewis. There were moments of laugh out loud humor and teary-eyed emotion. There was nary a dry eye in the house when a group of servicemen presented "The Empty Table" on Military Appreciation Night.
Preston, General and Operations Manager Feddy Azofeifa, and the entire game day staff managed to craft an atmosphere both fun and reverent. Every game started with a moving tribute to the original Raiders - a highly decorated World War II Marine Battalion . And win or lose, every game ended with the entire team accessible to the fans for autographs, pictures, and conversation.
You may have missed your last chance to experience the UIFL's best game day environment for this year, but the Raiders will be back - and better than ever - in 2013. And you still have an opportunity to see what the Raiders can do on the field when they travel to Ft. Myers' Germain Arena to face the Florida Tarpons on Monday night. Kickoff is 7:30pm and doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets start at $7.00 and can be purchased at the Germain Arena box office, the Tarpons office, or through ticketmaster.com.
Group tickets can be purchase for groups of 20 or more at the Florida Tarpons team office at 13723 Jetport Commerce Parkway, Suite 13, Fort Myers, FL 33913 or call 239-225-6374. Group ticket prices are $7.00, $12.00, and $18.00 depending on the location.
