Cary Advances to TRBL Championship GameJune 15, 2012 - Tobacco Road Basketball League (TRBL) Cary Invasion
The Dawgs started out hot in the 3rd quarter building their own lead of 7 points. But, Invasion forward Daniel Jackson (Shaw) came off the bench in the second half and sparked a furious run by the home team that featured a break-away reverse dunk by guard Mike Smith (Shaw), big shots and assists from point guard Brock Young (East Carolina), and strong inside play from Anton Currie (Toledo). The Invasion closed out the game with a 40 to 10 run and won by a final score of 127-104.
Eight Cary players scored in double figures including Brock Young with 16 points and 11 assists, Anton Currie with 10 points and 10 rebounds, Mike Smith with 22 points, and Daniel Jackson with 12 points and 8 rebounds in only 15 minutes of play. Marsh Neely had the hot hand for the Sea Dawgs. He dropped in 43 points and kept the Invasion defense on its heels for much of the game.
The Invasion will meet either PrimeTime or Fayetteville (who play Friday night) in the TRBL championship game on Saturday. If Fayetteville wins, the championship game will be in Cary at 7 pm on Saturday. If PrimeTime wins, the game will be at the Point in Ft. Mill, SC (the former Bobcat training facility) at 1 pm on Saturday.
