TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Norfolk Tides in the third game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). Following a loss to open the eight-game homestand, the Herd bounced back with a 4-2 win yesterday. The Bisons are 18-12 at Coca-Cola Field this season. Buffalo will host Pawtucket for a four-game set after an off day on Wednesday.
vs. TIDES: The Bisons are 1-1 against the Tides this season. Dating back to 2009, the Herd has won nine of its last 11 games against the Tides in Buffalo. The Bisons' winning percentage of .636 (70-40) against Norfolk since 1998 is their best against any team in the International League.
WE ARE FAMILIA: RHP JEURYS FAMILIA takes the hill for his 13th start of the season. The righty is coming off 5.2 shutout innings in a win against Columbus on June 6 (3H, 6K). In June, Familia is 1-1 with a 2.31ERA and 10 strikeouts in 11.2 innings of work. In his last six starts overall, he is 3-1 with a 3.81ERA and 27 strikeouts in 28.1 innings.
BULLPEN: In the last 5 games, June 6 - June 10, the Bisons bullpen is 1-0 with a 3.15ERA in 20.0 innings of relief work (7ER, 21K). RHP FERNANDO CABRERA picked up his 14th save of the season in yesterday's win. The righty continues to lead the International League in saves and is a perfect 14-14 converting save opportunities this season. RHP MANNY ACOSTA tossed two more scoreless innings yesterday. LHP JUSTIN HAMPSON picked up his fourth win in relief on the season (1.1IP, 3K).
OH JENRRY: RHP JENRRY MEJIA will be moving to the Bisons bullpen. He has never made a relief appearance with the Herd. As a reliever with the Mets in 2010, the righty went 0-2 with a 3.25ERA in 30 appearances (27.2IP, 17K).
BISONS BITS: RHP JACK EGBERT is third among all IL relievers for the fewest base runners/9.0 innings of work. The righty has allowed 8.78 base runners/9.0 innings...C ROB JOHNSON hit his first home run since May 3 vs Syracuse...After driving in a pair yesterday, OF FRED LEWIS moved into third on the current Bisons roster with 16RBI on the year.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (32-29) were swept in the Subway Series with a 5-4 defeat to the Yankees on Sunday afternoon. Former Bisons INF JORDANY VALDESPIN hit a double and drove in a pair. LHP JON NIESE tossed 7.0 innings in a no-decision. The Mets are off today and will begin a three-game series in Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
