(Fort Mill, SC) - The Chicago White Sox have announced that Jordan Danks, Charlotte's Gold Glove center fielder, had his contract purchased by Chicago today prior to the club's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Danks, who has been a key member of the Knights since 2010, receives his first-ever promotion to the Majors. The Sox placed outfielder Kosuke Fukudome on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to June 4) with a strained right oblique.

At the time of his promotion, Danks was hitting .302 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs for the Knights in 57 games. The Austin, Texas native hit his eighth home run of the season on Wednesday in the team's 5-1 win over Toledo. The home run was his seventh in his career against the Mud Hens.

Danks entered the 2012 season ranked as the Best Defensive Outfielder in the White Sox organization by Baseball America for the third time in his career. He won the MiLB Rawlings Gold Glove Award in 2011 and on Monday, April 16, 2012, Danks received his award in a pre-game ceremony at Knights Stadium.
