Lookouts Take Series With 6-1 Win Over Barons

Birmingham, AL - The Barons dropped the series finale and their fourth straight series overall to the Chattanooga Lookouts 6-1 in front of 4,015 fans at Regions Park. The Lookouts took a 2-0 lead in the second on a two-run Travis Denker single and the lead would balloon to 6- 0 in the third highlighted by doubles off the bats of J.T. Wise and Pedro Baez to chase starter Matt Wickswat (1-4, 12.66) from the game.

The Barons would be held scoreless through the first eight innings with the lone run coming in the ninth on an Andy Wilkins RBI single but the Barons were unable to get any closer, dropping their third game of the series.

The loss went to Wickswat who allowed all six run on five hits in 2.1 innings. Henry Mabee, Leroy Hunt and Santos Rodriguez combined to hold the Lookouts scoreless over the final 6.2 innings. The win went to Lookouts starter Ethan Martin (6-1, 2.92) who tossed 7.0 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and striking out seven.

Jared Mitchell finished with two hits for the Barons including his league-leading eighth triple of the season in the losing effort.

With the loss, the Barons fall to 25-30 on the year. They will travel to Mobile Saturday for a five-game set with the BayBears with Simon Castro (4-2, 3.74) taking the mound in game one against Brett Lorin (1-3, 3.12). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CDT.
