G-Braves Receive Pastornicky from Atlanta

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. - The Gwinnett Braves, in conjunction with the Atlanta Braves, announced the following transactions affecting the Gwinnett roster today: shortstop Tyler Pastornicky has been optioned to Gwinnett by the Braves, while infielder Greg Paiml has been transferred from Gwinnett to Double-A Mississippi.Pastornicky, 22, made his Major League debut this season with the Braves as part of their Opening Day roster. The Bradenton, FL native hit .248 with six doubles, a triple, a home run, 12 RBIs and two stolen bases in 45 games with Atlanta. He heads to Gwinnett as the Braves selected the contract of shortstop Andrelton Simmons from Double-A Mississippi.
Originally a fifth-round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2008, Pastornicky was acquired via trade by Atlanta in July of 2010. He made his Triple-A debut with Gwinnett last season, hitting .365 with two doubles, a home run, nine RBIs and seven stolen bases in 27 games.
Paiml, 27, hit .212 with four doubles, seven RBIs and two stolen bases in 29 games for the G-Braves. The Tuscaloosa, AL native was acquired by the Braves from the Chicago White Sox in March and was in his first Triple-A season.
The International League South-leading Gwinnett Braves (32-21) continue their 10-game homestand with the series finale against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (29-24) on Thursday night at Coolray Field, first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. Right-hander Todd Redmond (5-3, 2.47) is set to start for Gwinnett against Lehigh Valley right-hander Tyler Cloyd (4-1, 2.15). The game will be broadcast on radio on WDUN 550 AM and 102.9 FM with Tony Schiavone calling the play-by-play.
Thursday is another "$3 Thursday" with $3 food and drink specials all game long. All general admission berm seating is also just $3 on Thursdays this season at Coolray Field.
