Inaugural Suns Squad Reports On Monday
May 31, 2012 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) Pittsfield Suns
The first-ever roster for the Pittsfield Suns (Futures Collegiate Baseball League) will report to Wahconah Park on Monday, June 4th. After getting themselves familiar with the park and clubhouse, the players will head off to their designated host families for their first night in the Berkshires."It's always an exciting time when the players get into town," said Suns manager Jamie Keefe. "It's a short 'spring training' for us but the guys will be ready for the opening bell."
On Monday morning/afternoon, manager Keefe will be in Lowell, MA at LeLachuer Park for the league tryout camp followed by the New England Collegiate All-Star Game.
The Suns are slated to practice (weather permitting) on Tuesday and Wednesday (June 5 and 6) at Wahconah Park and fans are welcome to attend the practices. Practices will start at noon on both days. "Everywhere I've been, those first days of practice have been equally as fun for the fans as they were for the players," said Keefe. "The adrenaline is running high and everyone is ready for Opening Night."
The Pittsfield Suns open their inaugural season at Wahconah Park on Thursday, June 7th. Gates will open at 5PM with local favorite Whiskey City performing from 5:15-6:45PM (presented by Halpin's Grub & Grog). The first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a free Suns magnet schedule and after the game, the skies will alight with a great fireworks show.
Tickets for all games are on sale at the Suns Wahconah Park office. Tickets may be purchased in person, by phone at 413-445-SUNS (7867) or by going online at www.pittsfieldsuns.com.
