May 30, 2012 - United States Hockey League (USHL) Des Moines Buccaneers
Urbandale (IA) The Des Moines Buccaneers are proud to announce the team is actively beginning the process of resurrecting the franchise's Hall of Fame complete with a display inside Buccaneer Arena and new inductees beginning in the 2012-2013 season.Fans interested in joining the Hall of Fame committee may contact Scott Montesano with the Buccaneers at 278-2827 ext 7027 or scott@bucshockey.com . The Hall of Fame committee will serve the role of designating new nominees, organizing the new Hall of Fame induction weekend and inviting past inductees.
Plans call for the nominees to be selected by the committee with fans being allowed to vote on who should be inducted. This process would be repeated on an annual basis with the number of people inducted yet to be determined.
"Bringing back the Hall of Fame has been a no-brainer for us for a while and we feel we are in the proper position to get the process moving" said team broadcaster Scott Montesano. "No matter the team, no matter the sport and no matter the city everyone likes to feel the goose bumps of reliving the past and with the rich history of the Bucs a Hall of Fame is justified."
The Hall of Fame was active from the1990s until 2002 when inductions ceased with a prior ownership group. Honorary plaques were also removed from displays during this time and the Hall of Fame became a part of the Buccaneer past joining the likes of the IceMan blow-up mascot, the permission to smoke inside the arena and cement seating in the corners.
The re-born Hall of Fame will include all of the previous inductees
