Riversharks Down Patriots 6-2

May 27, 2012 - Atlantic League (AtL) Somerset Patriots

Bridgewater, NJ- The Camden Riversharks defeated the Somerset Patriots 6-2 in front of 6,111 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.

Camden scored to take the lead in the top of the second on a two run double by Drew Macias. Two more runs would eventually come around to score on two fielding errors by the Patriots to make the score 4-0.

The Riversharks tacked on another run in the third after Macias walked and came around to score on a fielding error for the 5-0 advantage.

Camden added to their lead in the top of the sixth inning after Chris Walker doubled and scored on a base hit by Lloyd Turner to make the score 6-0.

An RBI single by Rex Rundgren in the seventh got the Patriots on the board and cut the lead to 6-1.

Somerset scored again in the bottom of the ninth on a single by Rundgren for the 6-2 final.

Camden starter Ricky Brooks (1-0) got the win after tossing five scoreless innings and striking out one. Somerset starter Paul Phillips (4-1) suffered the loss, allowing two earned runs in three innings of work.
