16th Sellout on Virginia College Patriotic Cap Night

May 25, 2012 - Southern League (SL) Pensacola Blue Wahoos

For the 16th time this season, the Pensacola Bayfront Stadium was sold out. They were treated to a thrilling comeback and the first 2,000 fans received a special patriotic cap courtesy of Virginia College. The crowd was into the game and exploded when P.J. Phillips tied the game with a two-run double over the centerfielder in the sixth inning to cap a five run inning which evened the game at five.

The Braves got a run against Blue Wahoos dominant closer Donnie Joseph in the top of the ninth. The run was just the second he has allowed all season long. Mississippi held on in the bottom of the ninth for the 6-5 win.

The series continues Saturday night with 80's Night and postgame fireworks presented by Andrews Institue. Come dressed in your favorite 80's attire and join the fun! If you can't make it out to the stadium, you can catch the game online with MiLB.tv or on the radio with Tommy Thrall and Andrew Green on 1450 ESPN Pensacola.
