House, Copeland Lift Aeros to 4-2 Win

May 23, 2012 - Eastern League (EL) Akron Aeros

Trenton, NJ - Ben Copeland belted a three-run triple, and lefty T.J. House worked seven strong innings Wednesday, as the Akron Aeros posted a 4-2 win over the Trenton Thunder at Waterfront Park.

The Aeros (28-15) have won two of the first three games of the series, and five of the last six overall. They continue to maintain first place in the EL West by four games over second-place Harrisburg.

House (3-1) lowered his ERA to 3.30, as he held the Thunder (22-20) to one run on six hits over seven innings. He walked one and struck out four. The only blemish on the night for House was a solo homer by Trenton's Cody Johnson in the fourth. In his last two starts, House has allowed just two runs in 12 innings.

The Aeros took a 1-0 lead in the first on a triple by Tim Fedroff and a groundout by Adam Abraham. Johnson's homer tied it at 1-1 in the fourth. Then in the sixth, the Aeros loaded the bases for Copeland, who stroked a three-run triple to the gap in right-center to make it 4-1. It was Copeland's first triple of the season. He has five RBI's so far in the Trenton series.

All the Aeros runs came off Trenton starter Mike O'Brien (1-1) who was making his second AA start.

Kyle Landis worked the eighth in relief of House, giving up one run. Preston Guilmet entered the game in the ninth and retired the side in order for his fifth save.

Fedroff had three hits for the Aeros. Thomas Neal had a pair of hits to raise his average to .301.

The Aeros will wrap-up the series with the Thunder on Thursday night at 7:05. LHP Giovanni Soto (4-2, 4.10) will pitch for Akron, while former Aero RHP Adam Miller (0-0, 0.00) will make his second start for Trenton. Beginning Friday, the Aeros will play four in Erie before returning to Canal Park on Tuesday, May 29th. All Aeros games are broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com.
