Kernels swept by Wisconsin, 2-0 and 3-2

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Kernels were swept in a doubleheader by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Monday evening, losing by scores of 2-0 and 3-2. In game one, the Kernels were held to three hits and were shut out by the Rattlers 2-0 as Wisconsin hit two solo home runs to left field.

Wisconsin's Brandon Macias led off the 3rd inning with a home run, giving the Rattlers a 1-0 lead. Ben McMahan led off the 5th inning with a home run, pushing the Ratters lead to 2-0.

Cam Bedrosian (0-1) started for the Kernels and took the loss, going three innings and allowing one run on three hits. He struck out two and walked three. Mike Johnson went three innings in relief, allowing one run on one hit while striking out three and walking one.

A.J. Moye (2-0) started for the Rattlers and went five innings, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out three and walking none. Jacob Barnes picked up the save in two hitless innings on the mound. Chevy Clarke and Abel Baker doubled for the Kernels, and Matt Scioscia singled.

In game two, the Timber Rattlers scored all three runs in the 4th inning to edge the Kernels 3-2. Wisconsin scored three times in the 4th inning to take a 3-0 lead. Two runs came home on a two-run home run to left center by Jason Rogers. Later in the inning, a two-out RBI single by Rafael Neda plated Ben McMahan and extended the Rattlers lead to three runs.

Kaleb Cowart launched his 5th home run of the season for the Kernels in the 6th inning, cutting the Rattlers lead to 3-1. The Kernels tallied a run in the 7th inning to trim the Rattlers lead to 3-2. Andy Workman led off with a single, stole 2nd base, and came home on a RBI single by Gary Mitchell.

Austin Wood (2-3) started for the Kernels and took the loss, going five innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits. He struck out six and walked three. Logan Odom went one inning and allowed no runs on no hits while striking out one and walking none.

Matt Miller (2-3) got the win for the Rattlers, going six innings and allowing one run on four hits. He struck out four and walked two. The Kernels conclude the series at Wisconsin on Tuesday afternoon at 12:05 p.m.
