Head Coach Dane Litke Resigns

May 2, 2012 - North American Hockey League (NAHL) Janesville Jets

Janesville Jets Head Coach Dane Litke announced his resignation from the organization today. Litke has been the Head Coach of the Jets from the inception of the franchise in May of 2009.

Coach Litke's Jets teams have won more than 100 games and qualified for the North American Hockey League (NAHL) playoffs in each of their three seasons in the league. Litke was named NAHL Coach of the Year following the 2009-2010 season.

"My partners and I are very grateful for the work Coach Litke has done to make our hockey club competitive from day one. Janesville is clearly one of the most successful NAHL expansion franchises in the past several years, and Coach Litke deserves credit for our on-ice success," said Jets President Bill McCoshen. "Coach Litke is very competitive and we understand he is disappointed with how the season concluded. We all felt we had a team that could get to the Robertson Cup finals and contend for the NAHL championship. Unfortunately, we came up short of those goals," said McCoshen.

"I want to thank the Jets owners for the opportunity they have given me over the past three years. This has been a great experience, and I will take the lessons I learned in Janesville and apply them in my next coaching opportunity," said Dane Litke.

The Janesville Jets franchise was granted admission into the North American Hockey League (NAHL) in May of 2009. The Jets organization has established a reputation for excellence both on and off the ice. Last season, the Janesville Jets made the playoffs for the third consecutive year. The team has become an important Rock County asset and set records last season with over 23,000 in total attendance, including the largest single game crowd ever.
