Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- After coming back from a 5-1 deficit, the Biscuits (10-14) brought the winning run to the plate in the ninth inning before falling to the Birmingham Barons (13-11) 8-7 Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Cole Figueroa walked in the 9th inning with one out to bring the potential winning run to the plate in Henry Wrigley. Wrigley sent a towering fly to right centerfield that was caught by Jared Mitchell. Figueroa tried to tag from first but was thrown out at second base to end the game.

A leadoff homer from Justin Greene in the ninth inning broke a 7-7 tie and proved to be the difference.

The Biscuits went into the bottom of the second inning trailing 5-1. Hak-Ju Lee smashed a two-out double to left field to bring in two runs. Tyler Bortnick added one more run with an RBI-groundout to bring the Biscuits within one run.

Montgomery would later erase a 7-4 deficit with a Wrigley solo home run in the bottom of the 4th and two runs in the fifth to tie the game at 7-7.

The Montgomery bullpen kept the Biscuits in the game throughout. A combined relief effort from Frank De Los Santos, Kirby Yates and Adam Liberatore (2-2) held the Barons to one run on three hits over 7 innings after starter Kyle Lobstein allowed seven runs over two-plus.

Nevin Griffith (1) pitched the scoreless final frame to earn his first save of the season.

Wrigley and Lee both finished the game 2-5 with 2 RBI. Figueroa extended his on-base streak to 24 games.

The Biscuits will send RHP Joe Cruz (1-2, 5.02) to the mound in Sunday afternoon's game with the Barons. Birmingham will have RHP Cameron Bayne (2-0, 2.61) on the hill. First pitch will be at 2:05.
