BayBears Edge Lookouts, 4-2

April 27, 2012 - Southern League (SL) Chattanooga Lookouts

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Lookouts starting pitcher Ethan Martin and his counterpart, Derek Eitel, went toe-to-toe, both yielding just two runs in seven innings of work; however, Mobile was able to plate two in the eighth inning to take the win, 4-2, in Friday night action at AT&T Field.

Fans had the opportunity to comfortably nosh on some hot dogs and popcorn for the first three innings, as neither team showed any signs of offense; however, the BayBears broke the spell without recording a single hit off of Martin in the fourth frame. Two consecutive walks to Wladimir Sutil and Matt Davidson set the stage. After a Brent Clevlen fly out, which pushed Sutil to third, Marc Krauss hit a run-resulting sacrifice fly to give Mobile the early lead.

Chattanooga finally entered the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth with two runs. Luis Nunez began the rally with a one-out single, and Kyle Russell reached on a walk to put two runners on base. Travis Denker then came through with a double to score Nunez, but a wayward relay throw by right fielder Alfredo Marte and heads up running allowed Russell to scamper home on the play.

Mobile tied up the game in the seventh on a Krass triple, which was followed by a Marte RBI single.

The BayBears struck again in the eighth with two more runs on a Clevlen single to pull ahead of the Lookouts, 4-2.

Yonata Ortega blanked the Lookouts in the final two frames to preserve the win for the BayBears, while collecting his first save of the season.
