Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Alfredo Marte drove in five runs to lead the Mobile BayBears to a 9-5 win over the Lookouts in Thursday night action at AT&T Field.

After a quick inning and a half, Mobile starting pitcher Trevor Bauer (5-0) struck out the first two Lookouts batters in the bottom of the second, but proceeded to hit Nick Buss. After a wild pitch, which allowed Buss to advance, Pedro Baez hit a solid single to plate Buss. Griff Erickson followed with a triple to give the Lookouts an early 2-0 lead.

Bauer's counterpart, Allen Webster (1-4), coasted for three innings on the mound for the Lookouts; however, Mobile finally got to the Lookouts ace in the top of the fourth with five runs, highlighted by a Marte three-run homer.

The Lookouts added another run to their total in the bottom of the fourth. Travis Denker led off with a double and scampered to third on a passed ball. Nick Buss then grounded out to first, scoring Denker.

Marte struck again for the BayBears in the sixth inning with a two-RBI double. A subsequent Rossmel Perez RBI single put the score at 8-3.

Buss launched a solo shot off of Bauer in the sixth to help the Lookouts inch closer.

Chattanooga kept plugging away in the eighth with another rally. J.T. Wise led off with a double and advanced to third on a ground out. Denker then hit a squirrelly grounder to first baseman Marc Krauss, who could not field the grounder cleanly, which allowed Wise to easily score on the play. Mobile reliever Taylor Sinclair, however, was able to settle down and induce two consecutive ground outs to prevent any further damage.

Brent Cleven hit a solo shot for the BayBears for good measure in the top of the ninth to put the score at its final resting point, 9-5.

The Chattanooga Lookouts and Mobile BayBears will continue their five-game series at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
