Mobile BayBears News Release

Mobile, AL - The Mobile BayBears fell 6-1 in their series finale against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. The BayBears were limited to just one run on four hits. The lack of offence was mirrored by an uncharacteristic start from Mobile lefty Tyler Skaggs who was tagged for four runs in the fourth inning putting the BayBears in a hole they could not claw out of. Mobile dropped their third game of the season but remain atop of the Southern League South standings sporting a 7-3 record through the first ten games of the 2012 season.

Pensacola picked up four runs in the fourth inning when Didi Gregorius singled to center. Henry Rodriguez followed with a single putting runs at first and second with no outs. Joel Guzman then reached in the next at bat on a fielder's choice and a throwing error by BayBears third baseman Matt Davidson. The error allowed Gregorius to score and give the Blue Wahoos a 1-0 lead. Still with no outs in the inning Brodie Green would draw a walk, loading up the bases for Yordanys Perez who batted with one out. Perez ripped a double to left, clearing the bases and giving Pensacola a 4-0 lead.

The Blue Wahoo's would not falter in the later innings, only giving up one run to the BayBears in the seventh inning when Raoul Torrez drove in a pitch-hit RBI double. Pensacola's starting pitcher J.C. Sulbaran had all the run supported needed to pick up a win after going 5.2 innings, surrendering just two hits before letting his bullpen finish out the game in route to a 6-1 Blue Wahoo win.

The BayBears will head up I-65 for a five game road swing with the Montgomery Biscuits. Mobile will start RHP Trevor Bauer (2-0). Montgomery will send out RHP Shane Dyer (1-0). The BayBears will return home, Friday April 20, when they open their second home stand of the season with the Jacksonville Suns.
