Four-Run Eighth Leads to Erie Win

The SeaWolves used the long ball on Friday night as they picked up their first home win of the season taking down the Bowie Baysox 6-2 at Jerry Uht Park.
The Baysox struck first in the top of the second inning against Erie starter Zack Segovia. With one out, Caleb Joseph connected on a solo home run, his first. Robbie Widlansky followed with a single and he scored on a Brandon Waring double for a 2-0 Bowie edge.
The SeaWolves cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth when Jordan Lennerton led off and hammered a solo home run to straight away center. His second long ball of the season made it a 2-1 game.
The 'Wolves tied up the game in the bottom of the sixth. Brent Wyatt led off with a walk and advanced to second on a Niuman Romero groundout. Brandon Douglas singled home Wyatt with a base hit to left, making it a 2-2 game.
The game remain tied until the bottom of the eighth. Romero led off, worked a 3-2 and drew a walk. Douglas on a hit and run, drove a ball down the right field line putting runners on the corners for Rawley Bishop. Bishop connected on a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Romero for 3-2 Erie lead. With two outs, Lennerton singled home Douglas for a two-run edge. John Murrian followed and slammed a two-run home run, his first, over the wall in left for a 6-2 lead.
Kenny Faulk worked a scoreless ninth to preserve the Erie win.
Michael Morrison (1-0) picked up the win in relief tossing two shutout innings, allowing one hit with two walks and a strikeout.
Segovia took the no-decision allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits with two walk and two strikeouts in six innings of work.
The SeaWolves and Baysox continue a four-game series on Saturday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park.1:35 First Pitch. Lefty Jared Wesson (1-0, 1.80 ERA) takes the mound for the 'Wolves against RHP Zach Clark (0-1, 7.94).
