Defenseman Zach McKelvie Assigned to Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Zach McKelvie has been assigned by the Boston Bruins from the Providence Bruins of the AHL to the Royals. In separate transactions also undertaken today, the Royals (i) activated defenseman Marc Cantin from the 3-Day Injured Reserve; (ii) placed forward Chris Doyle on the 3-Day Injured Reserve; (iii) released goaltender Brad Eidsness as the team's Emergency Back-Up Goaltender; (iv) signed goaltender Brad Eidsness to an Amateur Tryout Agreement; and (v) placed defenseman Colten Hayes on bereavement leave.

This marks the third trip to Reading for McKelvie, a first year pro from New Brighton, Minnesota. In five games with the Royals he has a goal and five penalty minutes. McKelvie has registered two points (1g-1a) and forty-six penalty minutes in thirty-eight games with the P-Bruins this year. Cantin has been out of the Royals line-up due to injury for the past five consecutive games. Cantin has seven points (2g-5a) and twenty-eight penalty minutes in twenty-three games with the Royals this year.

The Royals return to action tonight (Friday, March 30, 2012 @ 7:35 pm) when the team travels to First Arena in Elmira, New York, to face the Elmira Jackals in the final road game of the regular season. Friday's game night broadcast will start at 7:05 pm with the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Pre-Game Warm-up Show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Reading. Streaming audio is available free of charge courtesy of America One through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. As with all Royals' road games this season, Friday's game will be televised locally in Berks County on BCTV courtesy of Boscov's Travel and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
