Opening Day Tickets on Sale for $5 Thursday

March 19, 2012 - Midwest League (MWL) West Michigan Whitecaps

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - Reserved seat tickets to the West Michigan Whitecaps' first home game of the 2012 season will be offered for a very special $5 price to the general public for one day only. On Thursday, March 22, fans can purchase tickets to the home opener for the special price of $5, more than half off the regular $10.50 price.

The Whitecaps' home opener is scheduled for Monday, April 9 at 6 p.m. against the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

Fans of the Whitecaps facebook page can buy $5 Opening day tickets one day earlier than the general public. A special code will be available on Wednesday, March 21 on the facebook page that will allow fans to order Opening Day tickets online for $5 each on that day. If you're not yet a fan of the Whitecaps facebook page, you may "like" the page at www.facebook.com/wmwcaps to get the deal.

Whitecaps Director of Ticket Sales Chad Sayen said the $5 promotion, which is in its fourth year, has been popular with fans.

"Opening Day is always a special day at Fifth Third Ballpark and we are excited to once again make it even more affordable for families in the West Michigan area, Sayen said. "We've had great feedback from our fans for the $5 Opening Day promotion in each of the past three years and we anticipate the same for 2012."

Tickets will be available for purchase at the Whitecaps ticket office at Fifth Third Ballpark, which will be open for the extended hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 22, as well as online at whitecapsbaseball.com or by calling the Whitecaps front office at 616-784-4131.

The first 1,000 fans on Opening Day will receive a fleece beanie hat from the Fifth Third River Bank Run.

Season, group tickets and individual tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Whitecaps front office at 616-784-4131, coming to the Fifth Third Ballpark box office (open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday and or visiting www.whitecapsbaseball.com.
