Abbotsford Heat News Release
Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat close out a six-game home stand this weekend with two games against the Peoria Rivermen (St. Louis Blues) starting tonight at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre. The Rivermen and the Heat didn't face each other this season until the 21st of February in Peoria, but the four-game season series will finish this Sunday, just 20 days after that first engagement of the year.
The Heat enter tonight's action sitting in fourth spot in the Western Conference with 70 points, just seven back of the first place Oklahoma City Barons. The Rivermen hit the ice tonight residing in the seventh position, tied in points with San Antonio and a single point up on Houston.
Abbotsford is coming off a sound 4-1 victory over the Houston Aeros that saw Akim Aliu - a member of the Rivermen last season - score a pair of goals to lead the Heat to their fifth win in six games against Houston this season. Leland Irving earned second star honours and his first home win since October in the contest, setting aside 25 of 26 shots.
The Heat close out their current six-game home stretch with a rematch with the Rivermen on Sunday afternoon before heading south to Texas for a nine-day, four-game journey that will leave just two games remaining away from the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre.
Tonight is Loonie Toonie Dog 'n Brew night at the AESC as the Heat host Canadian Forces Appreciation Night. Sunday is the inaugural Pink in the Rink as the Heat partner with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to raise awareness and funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure in Abbotsford-Fraser Valley
Tonight's game can be heard on Country 107.1 FM beginning with the 6:30 pre-game show, ahead of 7:00 puck-drop. The game can be also heard on Country 107.1's website, theAHL.com, and on the Rogers Radio App for your wireless device.
