Big Second Period Lifts Brahmas Over Oilers

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (February 26) - After falling behind to Tulsa early on Sunday night, three unanswered goals in the second period lifted the Brahmas to a 4-2 victory at the NYTEX Sports Centre.

A night after he tied Chris Richards for 10th on the CHL all-time goal-scoring list, Chad Woollard reached two more milestones on Sunday. Woollard's second-period goal was his 200th as a member of the Texas Brahmas and also moved him ahead of Richards for sole possession of 10th place for career goals (277) in league history.

Adam Hogg scored the first Brahmas' goal of the night at the 5:26 mark of the first period, his 18th of the season. For Hogg, it was his seconc goal in as many nights and ninth goal in his last 15 games. Jacques Perreault tied the game at two at the 5:08 mark of the season period when he beat Tulsa netminder Steve Christie for his sixth goal of the season. Just ten minutes later, Dan Nicholls scored his third goal of the season to give the Brahmas their first lead of the game. Nicholls' goal was the eventual game-winner, as the Brahmas never relinquished the lead from that point on.

Mark Guggenberger made 18 saves on 20 shots between the posts for the Brahmas. The rookie goaltender is now 9-1-0 in his last 10 starts and 18-5-3 overall. Christie saved 22 of 26 shots for the Oilers en route to his fifth regulation loss of the season.

The Brahmas (29-18-8, 66 points) have won nine of their last 10 games and move to within one point of the second-place Allen Americans. The team returns to action against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3 at 7:30pm for the inaugural Fort Worth Faceoff. Both games will be palyed at the Fort Worth Convention Center and will feature limited edition jersey auctions.
