The Week That Was

Fri., Feb. 10, Albany 4 at Hamilton 2

Steve Zalewski had a goal and two assists and Chad Wiseman had a goal and an assist as the Devils knocked off the Bulldogs, 4-2, at Copps Coliseum. The duo was joined in the goal column by Nathan Perkovich and Nick Palmieri. Goaltender Keith Kinkaid made 26 stops. The Devils established a 3-0 lead after the first 23:12. After two Hamilton goals in the second period, Palmieri sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 19:15 of the third.

Sat., Feb. 11, Albany 4 at Syracuse 1

Vladimir Zharkov scored shorthanded and Stephane Veilleux tallied on the power play, helping the Devils to a 4-1 win against the Crunch at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter. Mattias Tedenby and Nathan Perkovich were Albany's other goal scorers, netting an even-strength tally and an empty-net goal, respectively. Former Crunch goaltender turned Devil Timo Pielmeier earned his first victory in his first start of the season. Pielmeier, who was acquired by the Devils on Dec. 12, made 37 stops.

Sun., Feb. 12, Albany 3 at Providence 1

Keith Kinkaid made a season-high 37 saves as the Devils defeated the Bruins, 3-1, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Stephane Veilleux scored on the power-play and Tim Sestito was credited with the game-winning goal after a pass redirected off a Bruins skate into the net. Providence's Jamie Tardif scored late in the third, but Vladimir Zharkov provided insurance with an empty net goal. The win concluded three wins in three nights - all on the road - for Albany.

Notables

- The Devils swept their three-in-three weekend with wins at Hamilton (4-2), Syracuse (4-1) and Providence (3-1). As a result, they've moved within five points of the top spot in the Northeast Division with 52 points. They trail Connecticut, who has played two more games. In the conference, Albany is three points out of eighth behind Bridgeport.

- Tim Sestito has registered five goals on the season and four of them have been game winners. He was credited with the deciding goal Sunday at Providence by being the last Devil to touch the puck before it was redirected off a Bruins skate. Sestito is currently on a three-game point streak with a goal and two assists. He has points in eight of his last 11 games, producing three goals and six assists during that span.

- Stephane Veilleux netted a pair of power-play goals, including the game-winning goal at Syracuse Saturday. He is now second on the team with 11 goals and tied for fourth with 22 points. Veilleux has points in five of the last seven games with three goals and three assists.

- After being a plus-2 during the three games this weekend, Dan Kelly is now tied with Mike Sislo for the team lead with a plus-8 rating. In the last 14 games, Kelly has posted a plus-10 rating, including three plus-2 showings. For his career, he is a plus-15 in 92 games.

- Keith Kinkaid earned his 12th and 13th wins of the season with victories at Hamilton Friday and at Providence Sunday. The rookie netminder is 13-12-1 in 27 games with a 2.75 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. He is 4-1-0,

in his last five starts.

- Mattias Tedenby's breakaway goal at Syracuse Saturday was his first goal of the season. The second-year pro, has played eight games for Albany since being loaned to the AHL Devils by New Jersey on Jan. 20.

- Nick Palmieri has four points in his last four games and seven points in his last 11 AHL contests. For the season, he has registered 11 points with five goals and six assists in 25 outings.
