Hitmen Fall to Tigers

Calgary, AB - The Medicine Hat Tigers scored three second period goals, including two less than one minute apart, en route to a 5-1 victory over the Calgary Hitmen Wednesday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The loss ended Calgary's season high eight-game winning streak that started on December 30, 2011 with a 6-3 win over the Kamloops Blazers.

Emerson Etem led the Tigers scoring attack with two goals while Brendan Hurley, Curtis Valk and Cole Grbavac each scored one for the visitors.

Jimmy Bubnick netted his team-leading 20th goal in the loss while Cody Sylvester and Spencer Humphries each chipped in an assist for Calgary.

After allowing five goals on 34 shots, Brandon Glover was relieved by Chris Driedger midway through the third period. Driedger made 11 saves in the game.

Calgary, now 25-16-2-1 on the season, sits seventh in the WHL Eastern Conference with 53 points.

The Hitmen continue a five-game home stand when they welcome the Prince George Cougars on Friday, January 20 and the Red Deer Rebels on Sunday, January 22. Game time Friday is 7:00 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. puck drop on Sunday. Calgary will also host Brandon and Vancouver before heading back out on the road.
