December 12, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club scored 13 goals in three games over the weekend to claim four out of a possible six points. The BEARS stormed out to a 4-0 lead on Friday at Connecticut but the Whale made a game of it, cutting their deficit to 4-3 in the third period. Ryan Potulny later scored an empty-net tally to seal the 5-3 win and a three-point night (2+1). Keith Aucoin set up three goals, while Chris Bourque (1+1) earned top star honors. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins then came to GIANT Center and skated to a 4-2 win on Saturday, scoring three times in the third to break a 1-1 deadlock. Potulny and Tomas Kundratek tallied for the Chocolate and White. The BEARS then put up a four-goal first period on Sunday against the Norfolk Admirals, with Aucoin factoring into all of the offense in the first 20 minutes with a pair of power-play goals and two assists. Bourque scored twice and added three helpers, giving him his second five-point game against the Admirals this season. Jacob Micflikier set a personal season high with four points (1+3), while Graham Mink chipped in two assists. Kundratek scored for the third straight night to extend his point streak to six games. The BEARS head to Hampton Roads for a rematch with the Admirals on Friday, and then play host to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday before yet another tilt with Norfolk on Sunday at GIANT Center.

Let's Compare

After going 3-for-6 on Sunday's power play, the BEARS are now more than halfway to last season's total power-play goals both at home (24 / 2011-12, 40 / 2010-11) and overall (36 / 2011-12, 66 / 2010-11). The power play success is tops at home (24-for-67, 35.8%) and overall (36-for-117, 30.8%).

Getting the Jump

The BEARS have scored 37 goals in the first period to date this season, most in the AHL, and are also tied for the most wins (10) when leading after the first period.

O-Beautiful

Scoring 94 goals over 26 games, the BEARS are tied for 2nd in the AHL in goals per game (3.62), just off of the AHL lead (3.63).

One-Two Punch

C Keith Aucoin (8-35-43) and LW Chris Bourque (14-25-39) rank first and second in the AHL scoring race.

QuadruPPlet

The top four players in power-play points are all from HERSHEY: Aucoin (4-17-21), Bourque (8-12-20), Jacob Micflikier (5-11-16) and Graham Mink (8-7-15).

Good Deal

Since being acquired from the NY Rangers on November 8 in exchange for Francois Bouchard, D Tomas Kundratek has posted four goals, two assists and a plus-2 rating - all of which have come in his current six-game point streak.
