Pats Weekend Preview
December 8, 2011 - Western Hockey League (WHL) Regina Pats
For the second straight weekend the Regina Pats will play three games in as many nights beginning Friday in Moose Jaw. The Pats will head on the road 24 hours later to Saskatoon, to face the Blades at the Credit Union Centre with the weekend finishing Sunday as the Kamloops Blazers will visit the Brandt Centre.Regina Pats @ Moose Jaw Warriors

This will be the fourth time this season that the Pats and the Warriors have met and it's already the third time at Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw. The last time these arch rivals met was on November 11th in a 3-2 Warrior win in overtime.
Who to look for:
LW - Quinton Howden
Quinton was one of 41 players invited to Canada's World Junior Training Camp in Calgary beginning December 10th in Calgary. He is just one of three returning players from last year's silver medal winning team at the 2011 World Junior Hockey Championships.
RW - Cody Beach
The 5th round pick of the Chicago Black Hawks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft is currently picking up a point a game for the Warriors. He is also tied for 4th in the WHL in penalty minutes with 88.
G - Luke Siemens
The 19 year old goaltender was acquired from the Everett Silvertips early in the season and has been fantastic between the pipes for the Warriors. He's 7th in the WHL with a sparkling Goals Against Average of 2.53.

This will be the third time this season that the Pats and Blades have faced each other and the second in Saskatoon. The Pats lost in Saskatoon on October 26th 5-3, a week later it was the Pats coming away with the 2-1 victory on home ice.
Who to look for:
RW - Josh Nicholls
The 7th round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft played for team at the Subway Super Series game in Regina. He is currently leading the Blades in points with 35.
RW - Matej Stransky
Matej Stransky was a 6th round pick of the Dallas Stars in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. The 18 year old from the Czech Republic is second on the Blades in scoring with 32 points.
G - Andrey Makarov
The 18 year old goaltender has had a solid rookie season in the Western Hockey League. He both games played for Team Russia at the Subway Super Series against Team WHL. His play there garnered him a spot on the Russian Junior National Team for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championships.

This will be the first time that the Kamloops Blazers have visited the Brandt Centre since a 5-4 overtime loss on October 16th, 2009. Sunday night will be "Six-Pack Sunday" as either 6 hot dogs or 6 popcorn or 6 fountain pops are $15.00!
Who to look for:
LW - Brendan Ranford
Brendan selected in the 7th round of the 2010 NHL Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. He is tops on the Blazers in points and assists.
D - Austin Madaisky
The 19 year old Western Hockey League veteran was selected in the 5th round of the 2010 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. He is tied for 7th in WHL defencemen scoring with 5 other players including Pats defenceman Brandon Davidson.
G - Cole Cheveldave
Cole is an 18 year old rookie goaltender that has had a solid start to his freshman season. He is fifth among WHL goaltenders in Goals Against average, seventh in Save Percentage and has just 4 losses in his first 17 starts.
The Pats play their final home game before the Christmas break on Wednesday, December 14th as they host the Kelowna Rockets. It's "Wiener Wednesday" at the game where it's two for one hot dogs all game long!
